Who is St. Mulligan?
So who is St. Mulligan and why do we have a sale in his honor? After years of research, our advertising department traced the lineage of St. Mulligan to St. Patrick. He is the patron saint of all golfers (especially on the back 9). Based on our records he is the great-great-great-great-(times 30)-grand nephew of St. Patrick.
St. Mulligan was born in the mid-1600s near Albany, NY around the same time that St. Patrick’s Day became an official holiday in Ireland and the first recorded round of golf took place in America.
St. Patrick vs. St. Mulligan
- St. Patrick’s Day is the most celebrated national holiday around the world, St. Mulligan’s Day is celebrated by frustrated golfers around local golf courses.
- You can enjoy a green beer on St. Patrick’s Day but you can enjoy any beer on the green on St. Mulligan’s Day!
- While St. Patrick had a ball teaching prayer using shamrocks, St. Mulligan prayed his ball would not get lost in the shamrocks.
- St. Patrick chased snakes in Ireland into the sea, but St. Mulligan hopes there are no snakes in the water
hazzardwhile chasing his last drive.
